Are your little ones ready to become scientists?

In collaboration with Mariliza Pontikou - Lignou (@ mit.kids), author of children's book "STEAM at home," the Wonder Room, is showing you fresh ideas for easy, fun experiments and constructions that you and your children can conduct at home. Have fun while helping them develop 21st-century skills in the most engaging, enjoyable way.

We are launching a new series of constructions and experiments, starting with a DIY pom-pom catapult! Here's how to do it:

You're going to need:

4 tongue depressors
2 cubes
3 rubber bands
1 plastic cap
Pom-poms
Glue or duct tape

  1. Join the tongue depressors with a cube in between at one end. Secure them with a rubber band

2. Add another cube between the tongue depressors at the other end. Secure with a rubber band.

3. Join another pair of tongue depressors and secure them with a rubber band at one end.

4. Take the plastic cap and stick a piece of cellophane on it.

5. Stick the plastic cap on the edge of your tongue depressor.

6. Put everything together and place the pom-pom you want to shoot on the plastic cap!

Don't forget: Post your catapults on Instagram and mention @thewonderroomgr & @mit.kids! We'll be happy to check your constructions!
