WONDER WALL

November 16 has been declared by the UN as World Tolerance Day. The main reason for  this day is to build understanding between people who have different cultural backgrounds with the ultimate goal of combating racism and discrimination.

We can include issues of tolerance in the discussion and play time with our children, regardless of their age. To do this in a simple way by adding it in daily tasks, without taking a strict or boring form, we can use books with stories of well known personalities. By reading them, they not only learn interesting life stories but can also be inspired and filled with confidence and ideas for their future. By doing this, they receive the most positive stimuli: all people can achieve great things, no matter how different they are from us. By using books we also manage to reduce the screen time but also to bring them closer to alternative forms of entertainment, such as reading.

Keep reading to find some book ideas that you can use on the occasion of Tolerance Day:

 The people awards

A book or a celebration of equality. 50 great personalities who wrote history with their choices, talent, ideas. Dressed in the most beautiful designs of Ana Albero, this book will teach them and motivate them to change the world!

Rosa Parks: Little People Big Dreams

Rosa Parks has one of the most important stories in African American history: she claimed her place on the bus. This may sound simple today, but it has been one of the defining steps for racial segregation in America.

A book that will teach them about a great historical event and inspire them to claim their rights.

Jesse Owens: Little People Big Dreams

Jesse Owens was one of the most important athletes, breaking records at the Olympics and racism during World War II. A very important personality of the sports field who went down in history for his achievements. A book that will inspire them to follow their dreams!

Malala Yousafzai: Little People Big Dreams

Malala Yousafzai is the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner. She is a young girl from Pakistan who fights for the right of girls to education in her country. A fascinating story about Malala's life unfolds in this book. Her young age, combined with her activism, is very close to the children as she is a modern person of the generation Z who fights for the rights of girls.

How To Build A Better World

A book for the children of the generation that will change the world! It contains issues of equality and racism in order to motivate them to use their voice to build a better world!

What about play time?

There is also the path of play time to talk about tolerance. Of course, in this case in a more organic and raw way, giving them only the stimuli and the appropriate tools. Playing is the most enjoyable activity for children. That's why it's always a great way to learn something different through fun and fun.

A very simple way to tolerance is choices. When children have a variety of colors in their hands, they will use them all. With the Giotto Skintones markers they will have all the options in their hands. Thus, they can create their own painted world without limits in diversity!

An equally good direction of choices are inclusive games such as the Wooden classic school bus that features people of different races. A wooden toy, very durable and designed with the most beautiful figures.

A similar choice in a more educational context is the Discovery Stickers - Human Body, a poster with stickers to get to know the human body, with inclusive figures.

Meet the World Day for Tolerance with your children and learn about wonderful stories of great people from the books available in the wonder room! Playing is never missing from such a day, as it can become an opportunity for pleasant dialogue. No child is born with discrimination. By giving our children the tools, we give them the opportunity to freely develop their beliefs.
