WONDERFULL PARENTS HEADER (1)

n an attempt to bridge her career as a visual artist with the design of educational programmes for the SNF, awarded illustrator Angeliki Bozou founded Vlefaro live cinema, a moving-image cinema that presents online lessons through self-made drawings and illustrations.

Mum to six-year-old Hermes and four-year-old Daphne, Angeliki has written or illustrated (or both!) several books have been published by Martis, Fagoto and Mikri Selini publications. In 2021 she was a member of the selection committee for the EVGE awards. Her book «Μισές Ζωγραφιές Ψάχνουν Ζωγράφους» is only just out.

Could you describe to us a daily routine that combines your artistic work, educational programmes with six-year-old Hermes and four-year-old Daphne?

All the childhood memories, the kids stuff, as well as my children themselves: they are an inspiration and a starting point for my creative work. We often draw altogether with a view to scan their drawings and add them in my educational videos. Hermes posed a question the other day about a man with a broken foot and I wrote a book entitled ‘What are these people staring at?’ to be published soon. Daphne’s illustrations remind me of mazes that help guide me through new, uncharted creative paths.

What piece of advice would you offer to other mothers or to yourself before becoming a mum?

I’d tell them to be prepared for big changes but also no change at all. Be prepared to ditch all their ideal scenarios. Be prepared to explore a unique kind of love.
