WONDER WALL HEADER (9)

The Wonder Room team brings together some ideas & tips for what you can take with you to keep your child creative during the trip.

Packing before the trip:

Children need to be involved in all the steps of everyday life to build their independence and personality. It will take you a little longer and you will need to explain why you can not take some things along on the trip but preparing the suitcase with them, will help them to have a sense of control for sure.

By helping to prepare the suitcase, children will feel "connected" to the process. During the preparation, talk with the child about the trip, explain all the steps and answer any questions they may have. This will help them to be calmer as he will know what awaits them.

You could share with them a story about a trip they made as a baby. In this way, they will be filled with confidence since they will understand that they have done it before successfully.

Most of the following ideas apply to travel by boat or plane, but all are useful solutions for fun time during the holidays.

The essentials for the trip:

1) Something familiar to the child, something they usually use to calm down during sleep or relaxation such as their favorite doll or the lovey.

2) Something new that they have never seen before but also small and portable so you can have it with you and have the necessary space to play with it e.g. a sticker book, a new drawing pad, some markers, etc.

Some ideas from thewonderroom.gr:

The fantastic nail stickers by Avenir - which are mess-free

A small toy-like these perfect Tiger Tribe dinosaurs. Suitable for 3-year-olds +

A perfect choice is this Kipod domino that the child will first construct and then you will be able to play together. Suitable for children 4 years +

3) Their favorite snacks along with something special that you do not often give them. Use the very convenient Yumbox snack box and Bumkins snack bags that are perfect for cookies, fruit, or even toys.

4) A change of clothes regardless of their age

5) A new book with stories! We suggest one of them:

You Choose is a book that will develop your child's imagination and the travel time will be pleasant! Each page has countless options for the child to slowly make his own story!

Remember that travel can be a difficult adjustment for young children, but it is a fascinating and very rewarding experience for later life.

Start your adventure as relaxed as possible (this is important for both children and adults).

Happy Holidays!
