WONDER WALL HEADER (6)

A splash party is not any old party: it is a landmark that yet another school year is over and we are ready for a brand new, childlike, long summer holiday, yay!

  1. Homemade Ice-cream or Sugar-free Sorbet

Sliced banana pieces into the freezer, turned into frozen banana pieces and chucked into your smoothie maker. Mix with tahini paste, agave or maple syrup, cocoa or strawberries, linseed, coconut flakes, or whatever else you might fancy and there you go! Here’s the most homemade, gummy-textured, yummy-flavored, sugar-free ice-cream ever! Served in these under the sea party cups using big chunks of fruit as decoration or pour the mix into gelato single serve cups. Pair with ice-cream or clown fish shaped napkins… it’s all in the detail, right?

  1. What to include in your invitation?

Ask your invitees to show up in their bikinis and water guns, crocodile or shark-shaped ones, a towel and an (extra) set of clothes (extra pair of knickers included, thank you very much). That said, it won't hurt if you are prepared and throw some extra indie beach towels or poncho in your bathroom along with a First Aid Kit or Pouch, for what's worth, like this one. UV hats and tons of sunscreen...

  1. Beach sounds: Create your own summer soundtrack

On spotify.com you shall find lists with vintage and remix songs, and thank God we are well past that era that had us turning our backpacks upside down, in lorries, camping sites, or, even worse, muddy festival sites, to fish for cd-player batteries. This is the era where Tulum goers-slash-hipsters wear their i-phones usb cables on their wrists as a friendship bracelet, writes Pandora Sykes in her debut essay collection ‘How Do We Know We Are Doing It Right?’ That said, the Beach Sounds in Peach Pink or Olive Green works wonders with any smartphone or tablet, using batteries (sorry!) and Bluetooth tech with an MP3 speaker. It is sand and water resistant and weighs less than a kilo.

  1. Underwater Memories

This is the swimtrainer my best friend used for her newborn’s ‘swimming training’ lesson on a sunny Wednesday afternoon, when I asked if I could stop by for a quick cuppa. Fact that led me to think that A quick Facetime meeting with the aforementioned seven-year-old (who is currently self-taught on how to SUP) testified that an underwater camera is what any seven-year-old needs. And now back to the party: Whatever the party setting, a few donut-shaped, unicorn-shaped or flamingo-shaped Pool Rings ή Round Mattresses set the summery, beach vibes, are safe for kids and make diving extra fun. Yes please and can we be seven again?

  1. Decoration: Unicorns and sharks, and a rainbow pinata

Set the mood and let your party-goers know how big of a splash they’re in for with bright colors and festive accents. From beach balls to pool noodles, the more the merrier! Here’s our fav shark-shaped balloons or garlands with mermaids and seahorses on. A colourful pinata filled-in with your own treasured ideas, and you can ask your invitees to become turned-into-unicorns with these glitter unicorn hats.

  1. Did anyone say (Covid-safe) cake?

Right, pandemic-wise the best cake idea is single cupcakes. You can decorate yours using this fab  under the sea cupcake kit or simply adding a handful of these pastel candles κεράκια on a couple of homemade ice-cream scoops!
